'PURPLE' - KEEKA THE BRAVE

2022: "There's a touch of ethereal emotion that’s become a near hallmark signature within KTB singles. You could dance to this. Write to this. Draw. Clean. Workout. Relax. Play it low. Play it high. Keeka The Brave lends great permission to listeners with Purple."

Keeka The Brave delivers 3rd single 'Purple' - a delightfully playful but carefully curated piece, set apart from earlier released KTB singles The Messenger and Wanderer.

Upon listening to the 4:18 minute track, we're immediately met with a transcendent display of synth offering tinges of excitement as the story builds. The keys lovingly meet the base line, and soon snappy guitar riffs join the instrumentals. It moves rather quickly, inciting a lot of the 80's synth type vibe we've come to know well.

Around the 1:00 minute mark, the track takes its turn into a full house beat drop. It feels scientific and mathematical in a sense, but there's a lot of fun going on in Purple. There's a touch of ethereal emotion that’s become a near hallmark signature within KTB singles. You could dance to this. Write to this. Draw. Clean. Workout. Relax. Play it low. Play it high. Keeka The Brave lends great permission to listeners with Purple.

Once again, we experience a fine display of carefully selective layering within the track. A steady build up on what feels like a fun ride of sorts. Tell me you can’t envision yourself dancing around to this with laser lights and confetti floating around you? Maybe that’s oddly specific. But that's the feeling.

Aptly named Purple, I feel this title fits this track very well. As an artist, the affiliation and literal use of certain colors to emote a particular feeling, or better yet, capture a feeling, is not a far out concept by any stretch. And sure, call me partial, as purple (next to black) is my favorite color. But If I were to transform the color purple into music, it would sound a lot like this: dreamy, transcendent, spiritual almost, airy and free.

Elon aka: Keeka The Brave, does such a good job in the storytelling of his music. Purple is no different. It’s interpretive. Groovy. Bass heavy. Contemplative and has an inspiring quality that radiates off the softer rhythmic portions of this piece.

I’ve mentioned before, it’s very apparent in these compositions that there is an incredibly skilled musician at the helm. It may not jump out at you immediately, but Elon’s long-standing talent behind the drums is demonstrated time and time again in his singles. Between the beat drops, the intro’s and outro’s of certain musical components, there is undoubtedly a special type skill that goes into these pieces. A skill I find sublimely apparent in Purple.

Elon was a recent guest on local Jax music podcast, Bottom of the Bill, where he briefly discussed the IDM type genre of Keeka The Brave. Having listened to all three KTB singles many times, I feel Purple falls strongest within that category, lending itself particularly to the more “dance” aspect of IDM. Regardless, all of it is fantastically composed and I cannot reiterate enough how well of a job Elon has done creating his very unique and distinguished sound.

If the "I" in IDM stands for "intelligent" there's no doubt his music conveys just that.

Speaking with Elon recently, it sounds like we have some exciting things to look forward in the coming months for Keeka The Brave. Be sure to visit @keekathebrave on Instagram for all the latest in new music and more!
